Past Event: Safety Study – Hydrogen Leaks

Hydrogen Leaks occur. That’s a reality, even though everybody tries to avoid them. Leaks can be categorized according to their safety risk and severity:

indoor vs. outdoor
ppm-leak vs. large massflow
leak due to sudden rupture of a component
leak due to failing seals or O-rings
“leak” due to intentional hydrogen release, e.g. during commissioning or maintenance
internal vs. external leak (e.g. in valves)

The first question is always how to avoid leaks. The second question – since zero leaks are impossible – is how to deal with them both in the engineering and the operation phase. In this session, David will show you the different types of leaks how they affect the overall hydrogen safety concept and how you can deal with them. It will give you a better understanding of how to design a safe hydrogen system, which tools to use and what to accept as a customer.

David and his Wenger Engineering team will prepare a case study with relevant scenarios and walk you through the steps, the modeling (e.g. CFD) and share their recommendations with you.

This consulting session is especially interesting for you, if you are developing or building a hydrogen plant, if you are developing products that are safety relevant or if you need to manage hydrogen safety for your own operations.
